I-CAR TRANSITIONS TO NEW, SIMPLIFIED GOLD CLASS QUALIFICATIONS

Beginning January 1, 2002, businesses will only be able to qualify for the Gold Class Professionals designation using I-CAR’s new, simplified qualifications. These qualifications were first introduced in March 2001, and businesses are able to qualify with either the old or new qualifications until December 31, 2001. The new qualifications listed below make the Gold Class program easier to understand, simplify the application process and offer more options for meeting requirements.

New, Simplified Qualifications

  • Each employee must complete 80% of their position point requirement, OR have earned 5 Gold Class points in the 12 months prior to application or renewal.
  • New employees have a 6-month grace period from their hire date.
  • There is no longer an overall business point requirement.

Elimination of the overall business requirement puts the emphasis on individual training and makes it easier for a business location to calculate its Gold Class training status. Quarterly status reports are distributed to all current Gold Class businesses to help them better plan and schedule training throughout the year. These quarterly reports show the business status of a Gold Class location, as well as each employee’s status for meeting Gold Class requirements at the next renewal date.

Also, individuals can earn Gold Class points from I-CAR Industry Training Alliance members. A complete listing of Alliance members and their approved training programs is available online.

ADD YOUR WEB SITE OR E-MAIL TO THE GOLD CLASS DIRECTORY

When your business becomes Gold Class, your location and contact information is automatically listed in I-CAR’s online Gold Class directory. Individuals interested in finding a quality repair facility can search for Gold Class businesses by company name, city, state/province, zip code/postal code, or area code. This electronic directory provides consumers with quick and easy access to a professional shop that is trained to repair their collision-damaged vehicle.

To provide your potential customers with even more ways to learn about your business and contact you, your web site address and e-mail address can also be included in this free directory. If you are a Gold Class Professionals business and would like to add your web site or e-mail address to your listing, please send an e-mail to jennifer.wilkens@i-car.com with any information you’d like to add or update.
