I-CAR REQUALIFIES AS ASE-CERTIFIED TRAINING PROVIDER

CASE LogoI-CAR has been recertified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) as meeting the standards of Continuing Automotive Service Education (CASE).

The CASE standards and evaluation process are administered by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), ASE's education foundation. NATEF was founded in 1983 as an independent, non-profit organization with a single mission:

To evaluate technician training programs against standards developed by the automotive industry and to recommend qualifying programs for certification (accreditation) by ASE, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

In order to receive ASE certification under the CASE Program, a training provider must complete an in-depth self-evaluation and application, receive a visit from an on-site evaluation team, and meet the industry-established standards.

"The recertification process ensures that I-CAR programs are meeting the high standards of industry training," said Lori Barrington, I-CAR's Manager of Tech Centre Operations. "CASE also allows us to identify and examine any weaknesses in our development processes, thereby allowing us the opportunity to further improve our training. Because of this, the industry can be assured that I-CAR has offered, and will continue to offer, high-quality and valuable training," Barrington added.

2002 I-CAR INTERNATIONAL ANNUAL MEETING - AWARD PROFILE: CANADA
By Canada Field Manager Tracey Blouin

I-CAR Canada Instructor of the Year Award – Paul Santos

I-CAR Canada Instructor Paul Santos is awarded the Instructor of the Year Award for Canada.

Paul Santos received the Instructor of the Year Award for Canada at the 2002 I-CAR International Annual Meeting. Paul has been involved with I-CAR for the past six years. "I originally became involved with I-CAR after I attended all eight units of the CR2000 course. Mr. Al Landers was my CR2000 instructor and he helped me get involved with I-CAR," Paul said.

Paul feels that it is important to support and continue with I-CAR because there is always more to learn. "I want to reach out to repair technicians and pass on the knowledge that I-CAR has to offer. No one is ever too old to learn more and that makes me proud to be an I-CAR instructor," Paul added. Paul also said that he enjoys teaching the many different programs. He believes that the programs are all educational and every class is different because of the different students attending the classes.

Congratulations on your award Paul!

I-CAR Canada Founders Award – Robby Robbs

Robby Robbs was presented with the I-CAR Canada Founders Award at the 2002 I-CAR International Annual Meeting. Robby began taking classes with I-CAR from the very beginning and has been a director for I-CAR Canada the past several years.

I-CAR Canada Field Manager Tracey Blouin presents Robby Robbs with the Founders Award.

Commenting why he has stayed involved with I-CAR, Robby said, "While I am no longer involved in the collision or insurance industries, I now have an opportunity to give something back through an organization (I-CAR) that I believe plays a pivotal role in bringing the two industries together."

Robby continued by stating that I-CAR addresses a serious need to ensure that those responsible for repairing vehicles and stakeholders in the process can make proper decisions relating to the quality and safety of the repair. He believes that where the insurance and collision industry are polarized by different mandates, common knowledge allows them to work towards a common objective that revolves around the interests and well being of a shared customer.

Thank you for your continued hard work Robby!

Good luck and let the movie guessing begin…

This film allows many to relate to the chaotic and stressful times of obtaining one's driver's license and the difference it makes to a teenager's quality of life. When 'Les' falls for a girl named 'Mercedes,' he believes that gaining his driver's license will be his saving grace to win her over. Les tries to impress Mercedes on a date with his grandfather's '72 Cadillac but, to follow any teenager movie, many mishaps occur along the way. The film originally was to be called "To Live And Drive In LA."
