INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS HONORED AT I-CAR SOUTH CENTRAL AWARDS BANQUET
Bob Downam, Jim Meyers, and Jim Hormann were recognized by the Fort Wayne, Indiana I-CAR Committee at their first annual industry awards banquet on August 9. Representatives from the entire collision industry including insurers, repairers, and suppliers were in attendance to honor these award winners. Bob Downam from Tomkinson Automotive Group was presented the award for Technician of the Year. Bob is also an instructor at Ivy Tech. a career and technical school and college. Jim Meyers of Fox and Fox Frame Service and Jim Hormann of State Farm Insurance were presented plaques for their efforts in educating the local industry. They also instruct at Ivy Tech in the Vocational Collision Program. Following the awards presentation, Jim Hormann gave the committee a presentation on I-CAR class administration and Mike Miller updated the attendees on the latest about the I-CAR organization. Jackson Shelton stated, "This recognition banquet would not have been possible without the dedication of the I-CAR committee. A special thank you goes to Dick Fox and Pauline Watkins of Fox and Fox Frame Service for organizing this event. We want to continue this on an annual basis." Jackson and Mike Miller, I-CAR South Central Regional Manager, also thanked Midwest Auto Parts, Killian's Auto Salvage, and Automotive Color Supply for sponsoring dinner at the event. |

EMERGENCY EXTRICATION SAFETY TRAINING PROGRAMS TO BE HELD AT INDUSTRY TRADESHOWEmergency and Extrication Safety Training programs will be provided at no charge to emergency personnel and first responders during the 3rd Annual Collision Industry Tradeshow on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at the Midwest Conference Center in Northlake, Illinois. The tradeshow will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the emergency personnel and first responder training programs scheduled for 8 a.m. - 12 p.m., 12:30 - 4:30 p.m., and 5 - 9 p.m.; all three sessions cover the same material. Main topics of the Emergency and Extrication Safety Training program will include: emergency services and first responder safety; restraint system overview, operation, and safety handling procedures; and hybrid and alternative fuel safety and handling procedures. After presenting the information, I-CAR Instructor Todd Hoffman will conduct a question and answer session. Although the sessions are provided at no charge to emergency personnel, pre-registration is required; a registration form is available at www.goldclass.com. All of the proceeds from this event will benefit the I-CAR Education Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that attracts entry-level candidates and assists in preparing them for careers in the collision industry. Do you plan to attend NACE 2004? If so, you have a great opportunity to take advantage of I-CAR training at a reduced rate. I-CAR will be conducting six training programs this year at NACE 2004, which will be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada from November 3-6, 2004. The programs will be offered at a reduced rate of $60 for each four-hour program.
