A NEW SEARCH FUNCTION FOR THE ADVANTAGE ARCHIVESHaving trouble finding that Squeeze-Type Resistance Spot Welding article you remember reading? Or how about the one about repairing SMC cargo boxes? Because we have over 450 articles in the Advantage archives, searching for a specific article can sometimes be a difficult task. The I-CAR Advantage publication now offers advanced search options, exclusive for the I-CAR Advantage and Advantage Online archives, to make searching for your favorite technical articles easier. A link to the Advantage Technical Newsletter Article Search is located on the I-CAR homepage (underneath the current I-CAR Advantage Online title), or on the left side of any I-CAR Advantage Online web page. Search FieldsArticles can be referenced using several different search fields: Topic/Keyword Search, Advantage Topics, Related I-CAR Programs, Year, and Advantage Type. The Topic/Keyword search field will match the words entered with the titles in the archives. For instance, if the word "airbag" is typed into the field, all of the articles with the word "airbag" in the title are listed. If you would like the list narrowed down a bit, try using more words, such as "airbag" and "chart." This function works much like internet search engines, only it is specific to I-CAR Advantage titles. A pull-down menu listing 23 topics has also been composed to sort the wealth of information the I-CAR Advantage and I-CAR Advantage Online have provided throughout the years. This navigational feature offers you the option to search for current and past articles from a list of topics. This can be used to browse the archives more effectively or help with locating specific articles. Some article titles may not include specific words that you would normally use with a Topic/Keyword search, for example "That Mysterious Bubble Flare." The Advantage Topic pull-down menu may help locate these more elusive articles. The Related I-CAR Program search field can be used to find articles that expand on I-CAR programs you have taken in the past or are looking to attend. These articles support the concepts found in the 72 plus I-CAR training programs. In addition to the previously mentioned fields, other search fields that may help with your search include Advantage Year, and Advantage Type (I-CAR Advantage Online, or I-CAR Advantage printed version). All of the search fields may be used alone or in combination with each other to expand or restrict the amount of articles listed. TipsThe number of keywords and search fields you use determines the amount of matching search results. The less information entered into the search fields, the greater number of matching results you will get. On the other hand, you may narrow down your search by entering more keywords, or by using multiple search fields. For best results, review your search criteria carefully before executing every search.
I-CAR continually strives to create a more user-friendly web site, and we hope this new feature will help you search for specific articles or browse our library more effectively. |
