I-CAR LAUNCHES "myI-CAR"

myI-CARI-CAR recently launched a new section on its web site to help serve those collision industry professionals who have completed I-CAR training. This new web service is called "myI-CAR."

The new online function allows anyone in the collision industry to view personal I-CAR training records and submit a request to update personal information online 24/7. To use "myI-CAR," an individual must have successfully completed at least one I-CAR training program, I-CAR qualification test, or earned Gold Class points through the Industry Training Alliance, and have a valid e-mail address.

"myI-CAR will soon prove to be an extremely valuable tool for everyone that supports I-CAR training," said I-CAR Director of Business Development and North American Operations Rick Tuuri. "This is really our first major step towards really helping everyone track their own training and is an important part of the evolution of the I-CAR web site to become the collision industry’s resource for collision repair training."

Enter the "myI-CAR" section through the I-CAR home page and follow the simple directions to gain access to the newest addition to the I-CAR web site.

INSURANCE ESTIMATORS AND ADJUSTERS CAN OBTAIN CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS THROUGH I-CAR TRAINING

Several states require insurance estimators and adjusters to show evidence of continuous training, mandating a specific amount of training that must be taken to renew their license with Continued Education Units (CEUs). Many of the I-CAR training programs are now recognized in six states and meet the requirements for these CEUs. Completing I-CAR training to meet these requirements helps the state’s collision industry by placing insurance personnel in the classroom with collision repair technicians and business owners, facilitating a shared learning experience.

The following states have approved the corresponding I-CAR training for ‘general type’ continuing education credits.

Select a state below for a list of the approved I-CAR training programs and a quick search function where you can enter your zip/postal code to find upcoming classes in your area!

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR I-CAR TRAINING PATH TASK AREAS: NON-STRUCTURAL

I-CAR Recommended Training Paths

With over seventy training programs, including many new vehicle-specific programs, and three qualification tests, the I-CAR training curriculum provides the collision industry a thorough understanding of the collision repair process.

All collision industry professionals may now follow one I-CAR training paths document. Organized by task areas, the training paths allow individuals to select specific training programs and qualification tests that meet their needs.

To select the training that is right for you:

  • Identify the program titles that are interesting to you
  • Read the program descriptions online or in the I-CAR Training Catalog
  • Based on the descriptions, decide if the training program meets your needs

Remember: a good training program teaches you new information while incorporating and reviewing some material you already know and use.

Below are the I-CAR training programs listed under the Non-Structural task area. Because Group I builds on the Core Training Programs, and programs in Group II build on Group I and so on, you need to have an understanding of materials found in the Core Training Programs as well as previous groups before beginning more advanced training.

Non-Structural Repair II

Non-Structural Repair III

A complete listing of the I-CAR training programs and their I-CAR Recommended Training Paths task areas are available online.
