I-CAR AND CALIFORNIA COLLISION REPAIRERS GIVE BACKI-CAR program instructor Toby Chess led the effort to bring a happy and toy-filled Christmas to the families of Marines deployed overseas. Chess and a group of collision repairers raised approximately $8,000 to supply families with over 600 toys and 32 bikes at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA. "I got a call about two weeks before Thanksgiving asking if they could rely on us to bring toys for their families, as we had last year, it only took a couple of seconds for me to decide that I wanted to help out again," explained Chess.
It was also easy for Chess to convince friends and colleagues to get involved. Approximately 30 collision repairers from the west coast volunteered their time and resources in this effort. Chess and others dropped off the toys on December 17 and were greeted by 40 troops who helped unload the gifts. In return they received a certificate and many thanks for their contributions. |

SAVE THE DATE FOR 2008 CRA CONFERENCE IN NEW ZEALAND I-CAR New Zealand combines its Annual General Meeting with this conference and extends an invitation to anyone associated with I-CAR. This year I-CAR experienced one of the largest conferences hosted by the Auckland branch. The Central North Island branch is well underway to exceed your expectations at the 2008 conference. Why Taupo? Taupo is a busy holiday destination with bustling cafes, restaurants, dramatic mountain views, and a beautiful, clean, freshwater lake. This is a town vibrant in its culture, history, natural beauty, and has a wealth of outdoor activities to challenge and excite you. Being in the center of the North Island, Taupo is very easy to find and to get to! Why choose TEAM as the theme? The theme for this year's conference is TEAM.
Also chosen because of its relevance to our industry, it takes all kinds of people to make a great TEAM. Everyone in the automotive industry has completely different backgrounds and skills, but a successful TEAM is one that uses the skills of each of its members to work well together to generate better business outcomes. Three days of fun, entertainment and learning. The 2008 conference runs over a three-day period from May 15-17 and will be held at the Bayview Wairakei Resort in Taupo. With the entire establishment almost exclusively devoted to hosting this conference, this will ensure a smooth-running event and will add to the atmosphere, providing plenty of scope to mix and mingle with fellow members, sponsors, and trade exhibitors. A partners program is being planned, so bring along your spouse/significant other and let them be pampered and entertained with the various treats this region has to offer. The conference will be comprised of workshops, team activities, the Annual General Meeting, and an array of national and international speakers. These will complement the theme and enhance your knowledge of important business/industry issues. You'll want to share and implement your TEAM information when you return home! And, as always, the CRA Conference is renowned for a fun, final night extravaganza and this conference will be no different! To register, or for more information about the conference, please contact I-CAR New Zealand at admin@i-car.co.nz . |
