I-CAR HOSTS INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS FOR A DISCUSSION ON THE FUTURE OF ITS TRAINING CURRICULUM

I-CARFor the past 18 months, I-CAR has worked to better understand the training needs of the inter-industry. With the help of professionals across several segments, I-CAR has begun the work of developing a role-based, level-based curriculum model. Seven industry roles have been identified, along with the suggested competencies for each role at various levels.

A recent Round Table discussion further opened the re-engineering process to the industry. The meeting, attended by over 70 industry professionals, allowed for valuable feedback on the roles as defined so far, as well as the expected competencies within each role.

The feedback will allow I-CAR to continue moving toward the finalization of the curriculum model and a realignment of it recognition programs, both of which are expected to be introduced in July, 2010.

I-CAR VOLUNTEERS AND INSTRUCTORS THE FOCUS OF REGIONAL FRONTLINES CONFERENCES

I-CARDuring the first quarter of 2010, I-CAR will host three Regional “Frontlines” Conferences for its instructors and volunteers, or those individuals that are considered to be on the “frontlines” of the organization. The conferences offer networking opportunities; recognition events, meetings with regional management and an opportunity to meet with management from I-CAR’s Training Support Center in Hoffman Estates and are an important opportunity to provide information and ongoing training to this key group of individuals. I-CAR expects the meetings to be even more important this year with the expected changes to the curriculum on the horizon.

Conferences will take place at the following dates and locations:

  • January 28-30 - Northwest and Southwest Regions / The Fairmont
    San Jose, San Jose, CA
  • February 19-20 - North Central and South Central Regions / The InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza, Kansas City, MO
  • March 12-13 – Northeast and Southeast Regions / Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center, Nashville, TN
