February 27, 1998 GOLD CLASS SURVEY SHOWS POSITIVE RESULTS (Rolling Meadows, IL) Results from a recent survey sent to Gold Class businesses indicate positive feedback for the Gold Class Professionals program. A majority of the respondents felt qualifying for Gold Class helps them increase consumer awareness of their business, and the customer's level of trust in their service. To advertise their Gold Class business, an average of 53% of the respondents use print (yellow pages/newspapers/ magazines), 37% use television commercials, 32% use direct mailings, 31% use radio commercials, 27% use billboards, and 12% use the internet. More than 78% of the respondents said they purchased the Gold Class Professionals kit because it is a good sales tool and helps increase customer awareness. Other forms of advertising used are donations, event sponsorship and bulletins. A majority of respondents use more than one form of advertising to get their message across. Respondents indicated that 59% of their customers are male, and 41% are female. Seventy-eight percent are 25-40 years old, 22% are 40+ years old, and less than 1% are 16-24 years old. Fifty-eight percent of the vehicles serviced are from years 1995+, 42% are between 1990-1994, and less than 1% are between 1980-1989. Overall comments and suggestions reinforced I-CAR's need to continue to work on increasing consumer awareness of the Gold Class Professionals program and offering more I-CAR" courses nationwide. As a result, I-CAR has developed several new strategies to inform the general public of the benefits Gold Class businesses and I-CAR Training provide to them. I-CAR is also making a concentrated effort to increase the quality of new Instructors and number of courses available. Many respondents also commented that I-CAR Training is another tool they use to let their customers know their vehicles are being repaired by knowledgeable and trained employees. They also indicated that I-CAR Training is important to help them keep up with technology.
