I-CAR AND WESTERN NEVADA COMMUNITY COLLEGE TEAM UP TO OFFER THE I-CAR GMA (MIG) WELDING QUALIFICATION TEST

(Carson City, NV) Western Nevada Community College (WNCC) opened a brand new, state-of-the-art welding facility with 10 testing stations created specifically for the I-CAR Automotive GMA (MIG) Welding Qualification Test. The WNCC Welding Technology Program will begin offering the I-CAR Automotive GMA (MIG) Welding Qualification Test this summer.

"We are very excited about this great new facility. It's the first facility in Nevada to offer the I-CAR Automotive GMA (MIG) Welding Qualification Test," said Audie Swedeen, I-CAR Welding Qualification Test Manager.

WNCC is also in the process of building a new 10,000 square foot collision repair training facility. The I-CAR Education Foundation's ADVANCE-TECH" curriculum will be taught at the new facility.

"We are hoping that by giving our students the opportunity to train for and take the I-CAR Welding Qualification Test and receive I-CAR training here at our facility, they will become more marketable to the industry," said Jim Pawluk, Professor, Western Nevada Community College. "We have also had requests from businesses in the area to begin offering the I-CAR Welding Qualification Test and other I-CAR training courses."

The I-CAR Automotive GMA (MIG) Welding Qualification Test is a "hands-on" method of qualifying the welding skills of collision repair technicians. Welds must pass both visual and destructive tests. Major vehicle damage requires repair to structural parts. Welding is one of the most critical skills used in repairing this type of damage. The quality of a technician's welds will impact structural integrity, vehicle value, and passenger safety. To date, over 8,000 technicians throughout the United States and Canada have successfully completed the I-CAR Automotive GMA (MIG) Welding Qualification Test.

The cost of the test, in the United States and Canada, is $220 or four I-CAR Discount Coupons. Retests cost $110 or two I-CAR Discount Coupons. For additional information on testing at one of the test sites, please call Customer Care at 800.422.7872 (800.422.7872) in the United States. In Canada, please call 1-800-565-ICAR (1-800-565-4227).

I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international, not-for-profit, training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of consumers.
