January 5, 2001 I-CAR FULFILLMENT CENTRE MOVES TO NEW TECHNICAL CENTRE FACILITY (Appleton, WI) As of January 2001, I-CAR Fulfillment Centre Operations are up and running in Appleton! Important considerations in the building of I-CARs new Technical Centre were to increase efficiencies and to decrease operating costs. To those ends, plans included the movement of the Fulfillment Centre from Schaumburg, IL to Appleton, WI. The building was designed and built with that in mind and includes a separate area for Fulfillment operations. The warehouse has 7,500-sq. ft. of space, enough to allow for any needed expansion in the future, with access by loading dock. There are a number of advantages associated with this move. Costs are reduced through the elimination of the Schaumburg facility location. There are economies of scale in handling the needs of both the Technical Centre and the Fulfillment Centre in one location. Many Fulfillment Centre functions are closely related to Student classroom and Instructor materials, including simulators and props, which are developed and produced by the Technical Centre. Having all these activities under one roof makes development, production, inventory and shipping of these materials much more efficient. It facilitates the process of keeping all materials in inventory current, as well as keeping inventory at minimum levels which are still consistent with excellent service to Customers. The Fulfillment Centre will be active in looking for new opportunities to gain greater efficiencies through the application of newly available technology. As Tom McGee, I-CAR Technical Director, stated "Moving the Fulfillment Centre to Appleton reduces overall costs and improves communication between staff in Technical Development and Fulfillment. This is important as I-CAR strives to provide Volunteers, Instructors and Students with high quality, current classroom materials, in the right place, at the right time." I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international, not-for-profit, training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of the consumer.
