Current Events/News: I-CAR Press Releases: 2001 Press Releases
March 14, 2001 I-CAR ANNOUNCES NEW, SIMPLIFIED GOLD CLASS QUALIFICATIONS (Rolling Meadows, IL) I-CAR is introducing new qualifications for the Gold Class Professionals program that are structured with the Gold Class business in mind. These changes make the program easier to understand, simplify the application process and offer new options for meeting requirements. New quarterly status reports provide the needed information for Gold Class businesses to better plan and schedule training throughout the year. The quarterly reports show the business status of a Gold Class location, as well as each employees status, for meeting Gold Class requirements at the next renewal date. Until December 31, 2001, businesses may qualify under either the old or the new, simplified qualifications, as shown below. This time period allows businesses to familiarize themselves with the new qualifications and plan training needed for the next renewal. Beginning January 2002, only the new, simplified qualifications will be in effect. New, Simplified Qualifications: Each employee must complete 80% of their position point requirement, OR have earned 5 Gold Class points in the 12 months prior to application or renewalNew employees have a 6-month grace period from their hire dateThere is no longer an overall business point requirement! Old Qualifications: Businesses must complete 80% of their total course unit requirement Each employee must complete 60% of their position point requirementNew employees have a 12-month grace period from their hire date Elimination of the overall business requirement puts the emphasis on individual training and makes it easier for a business to calculate its Gold Class training status. In addition, employers now have greater flexibility in meeting individual qualifications. Also, Gold Class points can now be received from I-CAR Industry Training Alliance members.
