I-CAR EXPANDS INDUSTRY TRAINING ALLIANCE

(Rolling Meadows, IL) I-CAR announces that technical training programs from PPG Industries and BASF Corporation are now included in the Industry Training Alliance. The Alliance is a voluntary assembly of training providers to coordinate and optimize the training efforts of the collision industry. It was created by I-CAR to help the industry achieve an “ideal state of training,” defined as:

“Every person in the collision industry has the necessary technical knowledge and skills relevant to their position to ensure a complete and safe repair.”

“We are proud to join the I-CAR Industry Training Alliance program,” stated Russ Boston, manager of training and technical service for PPG Industries. “By working together with I-CAR and fellow training providers, we can streamline the training process and reduce the cost of technical training.”

The Industry Training Alliance was established to increase the number and quality of collision repair training programs and eliminate redundant training. All I-CAR resources and training programs are now available to vocational-technical schools and industry training organizations participating in the Alliance. I-CAR also maintains a student database that includes records for all Alliance training programs.

Students who complete Alliance training courses can now earn Gold Class points toward I-CAR’s Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual programs. The result is a larger number of Gold Class training sites and a lower cost required to achieve Gold Class and Platinum Individual status.

In addition to BASF and PPG Industries, current Alliance training providers include Chief Automotive Systems, Sherwin Williams Automotive Finishes, and Martin Senour Paints. For more information about the Industry Training Alliance Program or to apply online, visit the I-CAR web site at www.i-car.com.

I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international not-for-profit training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of consumers.
