June 13, 2001 I-CAR HOSTS INDUSTRY FORUM APPLETON, WI June 13, 2001 More than 50 leaders of the collision industry gathered in Appleton, Wisconsin on June 1 to discuss current issues in the industry and how I-CAR can best serve collision repair training needs. The forum was held at I-CARs newly built Tech Centre and included representatives from collision repair facilities, the insurance industry, other technical training providers and original equipment manufacturers.
The industry forum was a complete success, stated Roger Foss, vice chairman of the I-CAR international board of directors. We appreciate the participation of such a diverse group of industry leaders and can all benefit from the frank discussions and insights offered. Foss opened the forum with a presentation analyzing I-CARs strengths, weaknesses and opportunities. I-CAR Executive Vice President and CEO Tom Mack then offered an overview of I-CARs strategic initiatives, including the Industry Training Alliance and the simplified Gold Class Professionals program. He also shared I-CARs vision to help every person in the industry obtain the technical knowledge and skills necessary to provide complete and safe repairs. Following the two presentations, the floor was opened for questions and discussion. During this time, participants were encouraged to comment on I-CARs programs and direction and offer feedback on how they perceived I-CARs role in the industry. Attendees discussed the value of training, the need for training providers to collaborate in programs like the Industry Training Alliance, and how to best communicate the I-CAR message to the industry and consumers. I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international, not-for-profit, training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of the consumer.
