REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHES FOR I-CAR ANNUAL MEETING

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL – June 13, 2001 – Registration for the I-CAR 2001 international annual meeting is currently underway. Attendees of the July 19 - 21 event must register by July 1 to take advantage of the $375 US ($560 CDN) registration fee. After July 1, the on-site registration fee of $420 US ($605 CDN) will apply. The event will be held at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel on Baltimore’s inner harbor.

I-CAR’s annual meeting brings together leaders of the collision industry from across the United States and Canada to address current trends and issues in the industry. The theme for this year’s meeting is “I-CAR… A Driving Force in the Collision Industry!”

Highlights of the two-day meeting include a panel discussion on the Industry Training Alliance program. Alliance members such as BASF, Chief, DuPont, Martin Senour, PPG and Sherwin Williams will discuss the features and benefits of the program. I-CAR will also offer an open forum with OEMs during the meeting’s general session. This forum will allow attendees to direct questions to representatives from such vehicle manufacturers as DaimlerChrysler Motors, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc.

In addition, a total of 26 technical clinics will be held by organizations representing all segments of the collision industry. Each clinic will be 45 minutes in length.

The meeting’s general session will feature a presentation by Mary Cushmac of the Environmental Protection Agency. Cushmac leads the EPA’s Design for the Environment Auto Refinish Project. She will address the significant risks and pollution issues of spray painting and related activities and will offer cost-effective technologies and best practices to reduce worker exposure and environmental release.

The keynote speaker will be Roger E. Herman, senior fellow of the Workforce Stability Institute. Herman is a strategic business futurist and an authority on workforce and workplace trends. He delivers forecasts, perspectives and insights on workforce issues and predicts a number of shifts that will dramatically change the coming business market.
