August 21, 2001 I-CAR RECOGNIZES INSTRUCTORS AND VOLUNTEERS AT AWARDS BANQUET ROLLING MEADOWS, IL August 21, 2001 As the final event of the 2001 I-CAR international annual meeting, I-CAR celebrated the accomplishments of its dedicated instructors, committees and volunteers at a banquet in their honor. The awards and recognition banquet was held at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel on July 21, 2001. Each I-CAR regional field manager showed their appreciation for an instructor who most exemplified I-CARs commitment to excellence in the classroom, by awarding them the Instructor of the Year Award. The awards were presented to:Canada: John Poot North Central Region:Dennis Rivett South Central Region:Kevin Goyke Northeast Region: Pete Fryzel Southeast Region: George Sanders Southwest Region: Billie T. Smith South Pacific Region: Tony West Northwest Region:Marc Essig The Founders Award was presented to one volunteer from each region or program who most exemplified the I-CAR volunteer spirit. The recipients were: Canada: Jim Coates North Central Region Leo Maki South Central Region: Konrad Hacker Northeast Region: Charlie Cooke Southeast Region: Jesse Jones Southwest Region: Tony Harrison South Pacific Region: Frank Schiro Northwest Region: Clyde Everly Welding: Greg Thomas In addition, each I-CAR regional field manager recognized the one state that achieved the highest percentage over goal for the year and taught the highest number of I-CAR courses available. These states were presented the Superior Performer Award: Northwest Region: California South Pacific Region:Nevada Southwest Region: Mississippi Southeast Region: Virginia Northeast Region: Maine South Central Region:Ohio North Central Region: Michigan To recognize the importance of the I-CAR committee in bringing training to the industry, I-CAR created a new award for 2001, the District Committee Award. This is presented to the one committee per region that has conducted the highest amount of training over their original plan for the year. The recipients were: Northwest Region:Santa Rosa, CASouth Pacific Region: San Gabriel Valley, CASouthwest Region:Fort Worth, TXSoutheast Region:Northern Virginia, VANortheast Region:Long Island, NYSouth Central Region: Columbus, OHNorth Central Region: Detroit East, MICanada: Manitoba Tech Centre Award Car-O-Liner Company In addition to the above awards, I-CAR recognized the efforts of its volunteers by presenting the Goal Achievement Award to every state or province that met or exceeded its goal for student units in fiscal 2001.
