Current Events/News: I-CAR Press Releases February 26, 2003 I-CAR INDUSTRY TRAINING ALLIANCE® MEMBERS UNITE FOR CONTINUED GROWTH ROLLING MEADOWS, IL - February 26, 2003 - On Thursday, February 13, 2003, I-CAR Industry Training Alliance members and I-CAR representatives gathered at the Hyatt Rosemont in Rosemont, Illinois to review the current status of the Alliance and discuss its future. I-CAR Director of Marketing Steve Johnson highlighted the goals, benefits and current statistics of the Alliance - including that over 12,000 Gold Class points have been awarded since its inception in 2000 - outlined the fee structure and discussed current marketing efforts. The meeting continued with a briefing on I-CAR Education Foundation activities relating to the Alliance. Attendees then participated in an active discussion, where members freely vocalized their hopes for future Alliance activities, marketing efforts, strategies and growth. Executive Vice-President and CEO Tom McGee best expressed I-CARs gratitude to the Alliance members. We are thankful to everyone who was able to join us, began Tom. Looking at opportunities and ways to take advantage of those opportunities will only help the Alliance present an even stronger and more unified effort to improve training in the industry. Alliance members attending the meeting included BASF Corporations Joe Skurka, Car-O-Liner Companys Tim Morgan, Chief Automotive Systems Lee Petersen and Bob Holland, DuPont Performance Coatings John DeHart, General Motors Service Technical Colleges Douglas Bradley and Brian Whitcomb, Lew Kinney & Associates Georgeann and Lew Kinney, Lord Fusor Corporations Jeff Miller, Kristen Miller and Ed Staquet, PPG Industries Mike Gonzalez and Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Marty Dewey and Rodney Habel. Education Foundation representatives included Trustee Frank Hall of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company; Canada Representative Trustee Gloria Mann; Trustee Greg Settle, Mercedes-Benz USA; Trustee Emeritus Chuck Sulkala, president of ACME Body & Paint and Trustee Freda Thompson, owner of ACE Auto Body. Laura and Terry Angell of Warren Technical College and Rick Jazwin of Universal Technical Institute represented the Foundations career and technical schools and colleges. The I-CAR Executive Committee representatives included Vice Chairman Gene Hamilton, President of Sports & Imports and Immediate Past Chairman Roger Foss, Toyota Motor Sales, Inc. USA.
