Current Events/News: I-CAR Press Releases November 23, 2004 I-CAR® STARS SHINE BRIGHTLY AT NACE 2004 IN LAS VEGAS ROLLING MEADOWS, IL - November 23, 2004 - Several I-CAR instructor, volunteers, and employees were recognized for their contributions and dedication to the collision industry, in ceremonies held at NACE 2004 in Las Vegas. I-CAR instructor Todd Hoffman was presented with a National Auto Body Council 2004 Pride Award for his continued work with first responders. Todd took it upon himself to develop and deliver a safety program that alerts first responders of necessary precautions to take to ensure their own safety while rescuing people in today’s airbag equipped vehicles, as well as hybrids. Toby Chess, I-CAR instructor and volunteer received a special award on behalf of the I-CAR Education Foundation for his continued fundraising efforts. I-CAR Education Foundation Director Ron Ray said, "Toby's tireless and creative work in the Southern California area have netted more than $30,000 to support the efforts of the Education Foundation and local career and technical schools and colleges." Robert Porazzo, collision repair instructor at Blue Hills Regional Technical School in Canton, Massachusetts, received the 2004 Auto Body Repair News Industry Leadership Award for his continued work helping to train both current industry professionals and the future of the industry. The I-CAR Education Foundation was the recipient of the 2004 Society of Collision Repair Specialists and Automotive Service Association Collision Industry Award for the development of PACE+ST3. This program is dedicated to providing students with competency-based collision repair training, and enables collision repair facility owners to hire high quality interns that can perform entry-level tasks in a competent manner with little or no supervision. Russell Thrall III, who joined the I-CAR Education Foundation as of July 2004, received Everest Partners "2004 Award for Extraordinary Contribution to Industry Unity." Thrall, publisher of CollisionWeek, and was recognized for its ability to communicate industry related issues. I-CAR would like to congratulate all of the award winners and their continued support and dedication of helping train the collision industry. I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international, not-for-profit, training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of the consumer.
