I-CAR ONLINE TRAINING TAKES GUESSWORK OUT OF WORKING WITH STEEL ALLOYED WITH BORON

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - May 23, 2006 - The newest I-CAR Online Training program details a repair procedure on a technologically advanced material - ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS) alloyed with boron. This frequently misunderstood material is the cause of many challenging repairs when technicians have not been properly trained on how to work with the extremely high strength material. Replacing UHSS Panels Alloyed with Boron on the Volvo XC90 offers a unique training opportunity for industry professionals to familiarize themselves with handling this material.

"Even if you're not specifically working on a Volvo XC90, this program will benefit you," explained I-CAR Director of Business Development and North American Operations Rick Tuuri. "I-CAR researches and performs many complicated leading-edge repairs to better inform the industry of how to deal with such challenges. For instance, many in the industry do not realize that ultra-high-strength steel alloyed with boron can be welded or drilled with the proper tools. The Replacing UHSS Panels Alloyed with Boron on the Volvo XC90 Online Training program helps to take the guesswork out of these repairs. Online Training is another example of how I-CAR uses technology to meet the changing needs of the industry."

In the Replacing UHSS Panels Alloyed with Boron on the Volvo XC90 Online Training program, participants will learn about UHSS alloyed with boron and the specific challenges of repairing this particular type of material. In addition, this program shows how to section the upper rear body panel, and the inner and outer lower rear body panels. Similar to other vehicle-specific Online Training programs, this program covers multiple model years. Refer to your estimating guide to determine which model years are covered by this procedure.

Topics covered in this Online Training program include:
