PLEASE NOTE: Effective January 1, 2007, position-related point requirements will no longer apply for new applicants. New applicants must follow 5&2 requirements to qualify.

Only grandfathered Gold Class designated businesses will need to follow position-related point requirements for their 2007 renewal. All renewals after 2007 will require 2 points of ongoing training annually.

Owner/Manager - Not Exempt

Purchases parts and materials from a distributor. Oversees total operation of office, sales, delivery of products, and purchases. Owners not involved in sales must have a manager in place.

Salesperson/Inside Sales

Receives orders from customers. Prepares invoices and billing forms. Receives and makes product or service inquiries via telephone or in person. Sells products over the counter to the general public or commercial outlets. Stocks display shelves with products. Uses manuals or other technical references to determine the interchangeability of parts or materials. Prices parts or materials according to price books. Operates cash drawer or terminal and issues receipts.

Salesperson/Outside Sales

Receives orders directly from customer. Prepares invoices and may operate cash drawer and issue receipts. May perform sales calls, product introduction, product training, telephone contact, and technical support.

Technical Trainer (Refinish Product Manufacturers)

Instructs students in proper application of product-specific refinish materials, paint defects and correction, hazardous material handling and disposal, and personal safety.

Technical Trainer (Structural Repair Equipment Manufacturers)

Instructs students in proper structural measuring and straightening techniques involving unibody and body-over-frame, repair or replacement of structural parts, alignment and mechanical repairs, and damage analysis.

18 Points

Personnel not directly involved in the sales process have no Gold Class point requirements. Examples of these positions are:

Driver

Delivers orders to purchaser and does not perform any sales or product support functions.

Office Support Personnel

Performs clerical, accounting, secretarial and/or administrative duties, including answering phones, typing correspondence, preparing reports, data entry, billing, etc.

Owner - Exempt

Only performs administrative tasks and is not involved in daily business activities, sales, or the purchasing process. An exempt business owner must have a full-time manager listed on the application that performs the tasks of the non-exempt owner.
