Alliance FAQs

I-CAR developed the Industry Training Alliance program to position the Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual programs as inclusive and universally recognized industry benchmarks of training. The Alliance also enables training organizations and career and technical schools and colleges to work together to provide the collision industry with a coordinated and comprehensive training curriculum.

Why did I-CAR form the Industry Training Alliance?

I-CAR is an entity created by the industry, governed by the industry, and supported by the industry to train all segments of the collision industry. The inclusion of other quality training organizations is a natural result of the I-CAR Vision.

"Every person in the collision industry, current and future, has the necessary knowledge and skills relevant to their position to achieve a complete and safe repair."

The I-CAR Industry Training Alliance program is an important aspect of the I-CAR Vision. Through this Industry Training Alliance program, I-CAR believes the industry will benefit by:

  • All training organizations and the industry taking a greater "industry perspective" of the need for training to achieve a complete and safe repair for the consumer.
  • Greater availability of skill qualification and knowledge based testing to help ensure that competent individuals are performing critical repair operations.
  • Greater availability of the I-CAR Tech Centre to the industry for specific projects.
  • Encouraging more career and technical schools and colleges to provide collision repair training.
  • Rewarding those career and technical schools and colleges that raise their level of training to Industry Training Alliance program standards.
  • Greater use of I-CAR services and resources to assist other training providers and career and technical schools and colleges to improve their programs.
  • Acknowledging the need for ASE-certified to the CASE standards for all collision industry training programs.

How does the I-CAR Industry Training Alliance program relate to the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual programs?

Points can be awarded for approved training programs from all Alliance members. These points can be applied toward the Platinum Individual and Gold Class Professionals designations for either initial or ongoing training requirements. With the creation of the Industry Training Alliance, Gold Class and Platinum have become benchmarks of industry training.

How do I determine which providers of industry training are Alliance members?

A complete list of Industry Training Alliance members and their approved training programs is available from this web site.

What do I do if I have taken training from a provider who has not been approved?

If a training provider has not applied to and been approved by I-CAR, you will not receive points from I-CAR for that training. However, you can offer your training provider information about the I-CAR Industry Training Alliance program and encourage them to apply to I-CAR for approval.

What benefits will I receive from the Industry Training Alliance?

Benefits to collision industry professionals:

  • Collision industry professionals can take advantage of more training programs.
  • Increased availability and location of technical training sites meeting Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual program requirements.
  • An updated transcript listing all training received from Alliance training providers is sent monthly to the student anytime that new training information for that student is entered in the Alliance training database.

How do I receive points for training received from Alliance members?

A listing of all Alliance members along with their training programs, an application form, and application instructions can be found on this web site or by calling I-CAR customer care.

How do training providers become members of the Industry Training Alliance?

Organizations that are ASE-certified CASE training providers have the opportunity to apply to I-CAR for recognition and inclusion of their training in the Industry Training Alliance. Each training program they submit is evaluated according to specific Industry Training Alliance standards before the training provider is approved.

Application information is available online.

Do points awarded for training from Alliance members expire? When?

Note that training programs from Alliance members have expiration dates that are based on terms established by the Alliance members providing the training. At these expiration dates, the points received for those training programs also expire.
