The I-CAR Industry Training Alliance exists to recognize the accomplishments of training through approved training providers. All programs approved for inclusion into the Training Alliance must support the I-CAR Vision that every person in the collision industry, current and future, has the necessary knowledge and skills relevant to their position to achieve a complete and safe repair.

In the spirit of being an educational organization, in 2012 I-CAR will award credit hours rather than points for training. After successful completion of the Training Alliance program and application, I-CAR credit hours can be awarded. The awarded credit hours can be applied to both the Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual designations, however credit hours will expire and must be repeated (or other training must be taken) in order to maintain a designation. Many of the training courses provided by Training Alliance members have expiration dates based on certification terms, therefore upon expiration, the credit hours received will also expire.

More information about applying for I-CAR credit hours for training taken through the Training Alliance and applications fees can be found in the I-CAR Industry Training Alliance Student Application.

Earning Credit Hours through the Training Alliance

Once you have completed training and have earned role-relevant credit hours eligible for recognition through the Training Alliance, you can submit the I-CAR Industry Training Alliance Student Application. The application can be completed online, then printed and faxed or mailed to I-CAR. Please note, only training programs listed on the application form are eligible.

Application Processing Fees

To coincide with its transition from awarding points to credit hours, I-CAR will simplify its pricing structure for student application processing fees.

Beginning in 2012, processing fees will be $10 per credit hour. Please note, in 2011, processing fees were capped at $150 for 4.25+ points, however processing fees in 2012 will be uncapped and remain at $10 per credit hour. (For example, the processing fee for 8 credits hours will be $80.)

2012 Credit Hour(s) Price
1 $10
2 $20
3 $30
4 $40
5 $50

A separate application is required for each student (Please note that recognition of I-CAR courses completed at career and technical schools and colleges requires a different application. Please visit the Schools & Colleges area of the website for more information).

All applications and fees should be submitted to:

I-CAR Training Support Center
Attn: Industry Training Alliance
5125 Trillium Blvd.
Hoffman Estates, IL 60192
FAX: 800.590.1215

Once your application is processed, I-CAR credit hours will be applied to your personal training record that can be viewed by visiting my.I-CAR.com. Certificates are not issued by I-CAR for training received through the I-CAR Industry Training Alliance.

Important: In order to ensure that your training has been recorded and can be verified by your Industry Training Alliance provider, I-CAR recommends you wait for at least 45 days after completing training to submit your application.
