Have questions about the I-CAR® Hands-On Skills Development courses?

Check out the common questions below, or contact I-CARE™ Customer Care at 1.800.ICAR.USA (800.422.7872), Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CST, or email welding@i-car.com for more information.

Why does the Hands-On Skills Development course have to be held at my shop?

Courses are held in-shop to allow your technicians to learn and become proficient and get one-on-one coaching on the same equipment they will use every day. Additionally, the pre-course in-shop Capability & Readiness Assessment ensures your facility infrastructure and equipment are at optimum performance to produce safe, quality and complete repairs.

Can more than one technician attend the course at my shop?

Yes, I-CAR encourages you to register multiple technicians at your shop for the in-shop training. This minimizes the cost per technician per course, so you enjoy the greatest savings when you train the maximum number of technicians you can.

What I-CAR PDP requirements do Hands-On Skills Development courses fulfill?

MIG Brazing Hands-On Skills Development (BRZ02) meets the new technology and annual training requirements for the following roles:

  • Steel Structural Technicians
  • Non-Structural Technicians

Rivet Bonding Hands-On Skills Development (RVT01) meets the new technology and annual training requirements for the following roles:

  • Steel Structural Technicians
  • Non-Structural Technicians
  • Aluminum Structural Technicians

Why do I need to provide a Certificate of Insurance before a course is scheduled?

It is needed because hands-on practice is completed in your shop and it will cover I-CAR should something happen during the event.
