Course Content

1. Pre-Course Capability & Readiness Assessment
The instructor will conduct a Pre-Course Capability & Readiness Assessment to confirm that the facility has the proper equipment prepared for the in-shop Hands-On Skills Development course.

2. Instruction
Based on the technician’s experience, the instructor will provide instruction on removal and installation methods for various types of rivets and the equipment needed to do so.

3. Hands-On Practice and Coaching
Students will apply their knowledge through hands-on practice, with one-on-one coaching with a trained instructor. Throughout the hands-on course, students will become proficient in the following:

  • Removal of self-piercing rivets (SPRs) and blind rivets
  • Properly set aluminum and steel solid rivets
  • Properly install blind rivets
  • Properly set up SPR installation equipment and install SPRs

4. Evaluation
The final phase of the training will be a short, written posttest. The questions will be based on the skills learned during the hands-on practice.
