Camera Calibration, Inspection, and Initialization Requirements is a one-hour online course that will cover post-repair requirements for rearview cameras, 360-degree view camera systems, and night vision cameras. It will explain what events, either during the actual collision or during the collision repair, will require the system to be inspected, calibrated, or initialized.

Course Content
Module 1 – Description and Identification
The course starts with describing the different camera systems on a vehicle, how to identify whether the vehicle is so-equipped, and listing events that may require some type of calibration, initialization, or inspection. This module will also cover how to use the I-CAR Calibration Requirements Search feature on RTS to access OEM options and scan tool requirements.

Module 2 – Rearview Cameras
This module shows what steps different vehicle makers require after rearview cameras are replaced, and lists what other events require attention to these camera systems. Requirements from Ford/Lincoln, Toyota/Lexus, Subaru, and Volkswagen/Audi are featured.

Module 3 – Surround View Camera System
Next, the course looks at the requirements after collision repair of the camera systems that surround the vehicle and provide a virtual view from overhead. Requirements for the Chrysler Pacifica, Ford F-150 and Lincoln MKX, Cadillac, Buick, Kia, Acura, Nissan, Toyota/Lexus, and Volkswagen/Audi are featured. This module concludes with a look at the requirements for the Honda LaneWatch system.

Module 4 – Night Vision Camera System
This module looks at the requirements for night vision camera systems, and the report that lists what events caused the need for the system to be calibrated. Requirements for the Cadillac CT6 and Lexus LS460/LS600h are featured.

 

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify if a vehicle is equipped with a rearview camera, surround view camera system, and/or night view camera system.
  • Identify what special tools are required for calibration or initialization of these systems.
  • Explain the procedures for calibrating, inspecting, or initializing these camera systems on vehicles made by Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Honda/Acura, Subaru, Kia, and others.
