There are instructions on damage analysis, structural repair procedures, aluminum and carbon fiber-specific considerations, CELETTE bench requirements, and painting considerations.

Course Content
Module 1 – Damage Analysis

This module explains and demonstrates the issues technicians and auto physical damage appraisers need to address when doing a damage analysis on a GT-R. Beginning with how to access body repair information, the module proceeds to walk through the decisions that must be made when faced with a damaged GT-R like the handling of one-time-use fasteners and one-time-use parts. Videos show the steps that are taken to do a damage analysis on a GT-R that's been involved in a front end collision, including the requirement to use the CELETTE NAJA for damage analysis measuring.

Module 2 – Repair Considerations

Module 2 dives into the general instructions technicians need to follow when repairing a GT-R. These include the precautions against using heat for straightening, being aware of the exacting tolerances the GT-R is built to, and the need to use the CELETTE fixture system for any structural repairs. A video shows the mounting of a GT-R on the CELETTE fixture bench. The module then explains Nissan's requirements for replacing factory spot welds, including specifications for welders required for GT-R-certified shops.

Module 3 – Materials and Procedures

Module 3 starts with repair specifics on working with aluminum, carbon fiber, and foam. The module then proceeds to show the procedures available for the structure on the GT-R. A video shows two different procedures for sectioning the front lower side member. There are also procedures shown for replacement of the three-part hoodledge, and sectioning the upper and lower A-pillar, rocker or sill panel, quarter panel, and inner B-pillar. The unique procedures for replacing the hemmed wheel arch and cast-aluminum rear seatback support are detailed. Finally, available repair procedures for the rear side member and roof panel are explained.

Module 4 – Corrosion Protection and Refinishing

Module 4 discusses the final steps of a structural repair, including what Nissan requires for corrosion protection. The module briefly discusses the four-stage refinishing option for the GT-R and explains the matte finish option that is available for two of the models.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain how to access the GT-R body repair manual.
  • Describe the one-time use fasteners and parts used on the GT-R.
  • Identify the approved measuring system for the GT-R.
  • Explain Nissan's heating precautions.
  • Explain structural straightening requirements.
  • Explain the replacement of factory spot welds.
  • Explain aluminum repair limitations and precautions.
  • Explain carbon fiber repair limitations.
  • Identify the use of foam and insulators.
