Ultraviolet (UV) and Infrared (IR) Curing Technologies is a half-hour course designed to demonstrate the benefits and considerations for shops considering implementing the use of ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) curing technology.  

 

Course Content
Module 1 – UV Curing

In the UV Curing module, students will learn about UV curing, features of UV lamps, personal protective equipment, and safe handling practices with UV primer.  Characteristics of UV lamps and safe handling considerations are also covered. This module provides videos on panel and primer preparation, and the curing process. A video interview, with an Axalta representative, shares the benefits, common mistakes, and considerations when using UV cure products.

Module 2 – IR Curing

In the Infrared, or IR Curing module, students will learn about short-wave IR curing, features of IR lamps, and safety considerations when using IR lamps. Videos demonstrate the curing process and interviews discuss some of the uses for short-wave IR technology. Lastly, a video interview with a Global Finishing Solutions (GFS) representative discusses benefits and considerations when implementing short-wave IR technology.
